Overview<\/strong>
To empower rural women economically, MPF rolled out a six-month micro-enterprise incubator for 60 participants across four Gramaseva divisions\u2014blending business fundamentals, digital marketing skills, seed funding, and mentorship.<\/p>

The Challenge<\/strong><\/p>

  • Limited income streams:<\/strong> Most women relied on subsistence farming or casual labor.<\/p><\/li>

  • Low digital literacy:<\/strong> Few knew how to leverage online platforms to sell goods.<\/p><\/li>

  • Capital constraints:<\/strong> No access to affordable start-up loans.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

    Our Approach<\/strong><\/p>

    1. Business & Digital Curriculum<\/strong><\/p>

      • Delivered 48 hours of classroom and hands-on training on accounting, pricing, social-media marketing, and e-commerce platform setup.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

      • Seed Grants & Mentoring<\/strong><\/p>

        • Issued Rs. 50,000 micro-grants per participant group.<\/p><\/li>

        • Paired each entrepreneur with a volunteer mentor from Colombo\u2019s startup ecosystem for biweekly check-ins.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li>

        • Market Linkages<\/strong><\/p>

          • Organized two pop-up bazaars in Monaragala town, drawing 1,500+ visitors each.<\/p><\/li>

          • Created a shared WhatsApp channel and simple web portal to drive online orders and logistics.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>

            Implementation Highlights<\/strong><\/p>

            • Curriculum co-developed with University of Ruhuna\u2019s business faculty.<\/p><\/li>

            • Partnerships with local micro-finance institutions enabled low-interest follow-on loans (1.5% monthly).<\/p><\/li>

            • Monthly peer forums fostered problem-solving and collective marketing campaigns.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>

              • 85%<\/strong> of graduates launched viable home-based enterprises within two months.<\/p><\/li>
