MPF & Ministry of Education Launch “Digital Horizons” Campaign

Overview
On May 15, 2025, the MillionPaths Foundation partnered with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education to kick off “Digital Horizons,” a nationwide initiative to bring foundational digital literacy to 500,000 students across 1,200 schools by the end of 2027.

Key Activities

  • Curriculum Development: Co-created a five-module syllabus covering computer basics, internet safety, coding fundamentals, digital citizenship and virtual collaboration.

  • Teacher Training: Launched a “Train the Trainer” program certifying 2,500 master educators in blended learning methodologies.

  • Resource Deployment: Distributed 10,000 tablet-laptop hybrids and portable mobile STEM kits to remote and underserved schools.

Impact to Date

  • 25,000+ students have completed Module 1 (Computer Basics) in the pilot phase.

  • Teachers report a 70% increase in student engagement when lessons incorporate interactive digital exercises.

  • The Ministry projects a four-fold rise in ICT competency exam pass rates by 2026.
